All-Star ticket prices to cost $150-$725

Fans will pay starry prices for this year's All-Star game at Yankee Stadium.

Tickets will be priced at $150-$725 for the July 15 game, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday. That's up from $75-$285 for last year's game at San Francisco and $10-15 for box and reserved seats the last time the All-Stars were at Yankee Stadium, in 1977.

Tickets for the Home Run Derby and workout day on July 14 are $100-$650, an increase from $50-$225 last year.

Illinois' series opener at Minnesota on Friday has been delayed because of rain in Minneapolis. Both teams took infield and outfield practice, but the tarp was put on the field prior to the 3:05 p.m. start time. Further decisions will be made at 4 p.m. (CT).

Bionde Presented with Rawlings Gold Glove Award

Mike Bionde posed with Coach Hill after receiving his Rawlings Gold Glove Award at halftime of the Rutgers-Connecticut basketball game on Feb. 26. Bionde was selected as the top second baseman in the nation by the American Baseball Coaches Association for his performance last season. Jair Jurrjens had himself a pretty streaky night. Jurrjens was perfect in the first two innings against the New York Mets on Friday. Then he walked three consecutive batters with the bases loaded in the third. Then he retired his final 10 batters. "It boosts my confidence up, coming back from a big jam like that," the 22-year-old rookie said after helping the Atlanta Braves to a 6-3 victory.

Illini Drop Double-Dip to #23 Michigan

Illinois gave up a pair of runs in the first inning of game one and that seemed to set the tone for the day as No. 23 Michigan took both ends of Saturday's doubleheader at Illinois Field, winning 14-4 in game one and 14-6 in game two on a cold, wet, blustery day. Illini shortstop Brandon Wikoff went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs on the afternoon, while DH Daniel Webb was 3-for-6.

Big Innings Lift Illini to 17-0 Win Over Blueboys

Illinois exploded with an eight-run third inning, sending 13 batters to the plate, and seven pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout of Illinois College as the Orange and Blue won, 17-0, at Illinois Field. A's move to new stadium delayed to 2012? (AP)

The Oakland Athletics' expected move to Fremont will probably be delayed at least until 2012, a year later than the team hoped. Speaking at a community meeting this week, A's co-owner Keith Wolff said the team could only make the move by 2011 if the city approves the environmental impact report by the end of this year.

Ortiz jersey up for auction after failed curse attempt

Some might call it a curse, others might call it a cure for cancer.

The Boston Red Sox's official charity, the Jimmy Fund, is auctioning off the David Ortiz jersey that was buried under the New York Yankees' new stadium by a Boston fan trying to curse its American League rivals.

The auction began Thursday on eBay and lasts one week. The starting bid is $500.

All proceeds will go to the children's cancer charity, which is affiliated with Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Wednesday's news briefs: Detroit center fielder Curtis Granderson, out of the lineup for nearly a month with a broken bone in his right hand, is hopeful that he can start a rehabilitation assignment by Friday night.

Illini Look to Stay Hot Against Hoosiers

Illinois started the Big Ten season strong at Michigan State last weekend, winning three of four against the Spartans. Sandwiched around that series, the Illini won games against Judson and Indiana State last week and defeated Southern Illinois and Saint Louis this week. The Hoosiers are nearly as hot as Illinois, having won three straight and eight of their last 10. Indiana earned a series split at Minnesota to open Big Ten play last weekend.

Cliff Lee had an easy time shutting down the Oakland Athletics. Pitching quickly and efficiently in the wind and cold, Lee helped the Cleveland Indians end the A's five-game winning streak with a 7-1 victory Sunday. Illini Win Series at MSU Despite Dropping Finale, 3-2

Illinois took a 2-1 lead in the third inning, but Michigan State scratched across runs in the fifth and eighth innings to prevent the Illini from sweeping the series with a 3-2 win at Oldsmobile Park. A's place Harden on 15-day DL, call up Devine

The Oakland Athletics placed right-hander Rich Harden on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, retroactive to April 3, and recalled right-hander Joey Devine from Triple-A Sacramento.

Harden, 1-0 with an 0.82 ERA in two starts, was bumped from his scheduled start Tuesday with a strained muscle below his right shoulder blade. Oakland hoped Harden would be healthy in time to face Cleveland on Saturday, but he was still sore after throwing from flat ground before Wednesday's game.
