Freshman left fielder Casey McMurray earned his first career Big Ten Player of the Week honor Monday, the conference office announced, after going 11-for-15 (.733) in four games against Penn State over the weekend. It is the second-straight week that an Illini has earned the laurel, with Joe Bonadonna nabbing the honor last week, and the first time that an Illini freshman has been named Player of the Week since Craig Marquie accomplished the feat on April 31, 1997.
