Illinois faces Northwestern this weekend with a chance to solidify its position in third place of the conference standings. Just one game separates the two teams with only 12 Big Ten games remaining. The Illini took three of four from the Wildcats at Rocky Miller Park last season, winning the first three games before dropping the series finale. Illinois is 8-4 against NU in the last three years, winning the 2007 series and sweeping the four-game set in 2005. Northwestern won the 2005 series.
