Illini Drop Hard-Fought Game to #23 Ohio State, 7-4

Illinois led for the first six-and-a-half innings but No. 23 Ohio State pushed across two runs in the bottom of the seventh without a ball leaving the infield and two more in the eighth as the Buckeyes nipped the Illini, 7-4 in front of 4,575 fans at Huntington Park. Catcher Aaron Johnson (Sussex Corner, New Brunswick) was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBIs, and right fielder Pete Cappetta (Lisle, Ill.) was 2-for-3 with an RBI as the Illini move on to face the winner of Friday's elimination game between sixth-seeded Purdue and second-seeded Minnesota in another elimination game at 2:35 p.m. CT.
