Illini Drop Hard-Fought Game to #23 Ohio State, 7-4
Illinois led for the first six-and-a-half innings but No. 23 Ohio State pushed across two runs in the bottom of the seventh without a ball leaving the infield and two more in the eighth as the Buckeyes nipped the Illini, 7-4 in front of 4,575 fans at Huntington Park. Catcher Aaron Johnson (Sussex Corner, New Brunswick) was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBIs, and right fielder Pete Cappetta (Lisle, Ill.) was 2-for-3 with an RBI as the Illini move on to face the winner of Friday's elimination game between sixth-seeded Purdue and second-seeded Minnesota in another elimination game at 2:35 p.m. CT.

Gaynor Named To BIG EAST Baseball Honor Roll
PISCATAWAY, N.J. Rutgers junior pitcher Casey Gaynor (Toms River, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Baseball Honor Roll, the league announced Monday. The Scarlet Knight pitched eight shutout innings and struck out seven, while allowing just five hits to help the Scarlet Knights post a 2-0 victory over Cincinnati in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.
